If you are unable to remember your password of your Microsoft account, or your remembered password is not working, or it appears that someone has hacked it, it is strongly recommended that you reset your password.
There are two ways by which you can set your Microsoft account. Read the instruction carefully.
(1) If you add security info of your account, it will generate a onetime password (OTP) which will be sent to your alternate registered email address or your registered phone number. Once you entered the code provided as OTP, you will be able to create a new password.
(2) If you haven’t enabled the settings or you cannot reach either to the required cell number or the email address, go to I don’t have access to these. It will take you to security questions such as your date of birth or your credit card number which you only you would know.
Are you hacked?
If you think you are using a correct password and still unable to access the account, then it is possible that your account is compromised. It is possible that someone has guessed or stolen your password; changed it and is now misusing your account to access you personal details. This happens when you set an easy password.
Following are the steps by which you can recover your stolen password and prevent misuse of your account in future:
(1) Try logging in to you Microsoft account
(2) Perform one of the following:
(1.1) If you are still able to access your account, you must change the password immediately so that the previous password cannot be used again. Select the Security and Password page, tap on the option Change your password and then follow the on screen instructions.
(1.2) If you are unable to access your account, the hacker might have changed the password and taken control over the account. Click on Can’t access your account? Then select I think someone else is using my Microsoft account, go to Next and follow the instructions on screen.
