You can manually configure your router without using setup software. For this you need to take the following steps:

1. Using Ethernet cable, connect the wireless router with the modem using this cable.

2.  Connect the wireless router to the power source and give some minutes to make it completely operational.

3.  Now, with the help of Ethernet cable connect your wireless router to your system. The complete set up will look like this.

4. Now, open the browser and type the IP address of your router in the address bar for logging in. The IP address should be mentioned in the documentation of your router. If you are not able to find it, you need not worry. Most of the routers use IP address like: http://192.168.1.1, http://192.168.0.1, or http://192.168.2.1.

8.   Finally, read out our router’s tips to provide speed to your router’s connectivity.

Tips that should be taken care of

·         Before installing a used wireless router make sure to reset it to factory setting. Find the reset button on the router and press it for half a minute with a pen or pencil. Otherwise it may configure your wireless network according to previous system.
·         For security, consider not giving out your network SSID or Name. If you disable it, a hacker can not only figure out the passphrase but will also find out the SSID. It's just an extra layer to harass a hacker and this would be enough for him to leave your network and to try someone else’s network.

With these tips in hand, you are well equipped to set up your wireless outer.
