Protecting Your Online Privacy

Information you search for on the Internet is used by advertisers, but they're not the only ones paying notice. Nasty hackers can gain access to your information online and steal your confidential information or trespass your family's privacy. Unluckily, there is not even a simple "security" button on your computer or smartphone that will keep all of your personal and confidential data secure. If you want to secure your online privacy, you are required to take some appropriate actions.
The more time you spend in online activities like shopping, socializing with people, and searching for information, the more you put your online privacy at danger -- unless you follow a few simple steps to stay secure.

Got a call about your computer? It's a scam.

I woke up one morning with my head buzzing with the workload. And that was over and above, feeding my cat, doing my dishes, laundering the clothes waiting from a long time and babysitting my 5-year old baby.
As if all these tasks were not enough my phone suddenly rang. I was deep in the water mixed with washing detergent, and I felt like swearing when I had to wash (or bathe) to take the call. As I reached my phone, I knew I am late by a second as the call got disconnected.

I stood there waiting, and the phone rang.

I instantly took the call, believing it to be of one of my savior (maybe my maid, or my husband, or my colleague). Alas, it was not.

It was from some tech company, the caller of which tried to tell me that I have a virus in my computer system. Even after the immediate crisis at my end, I couldn’t resist a good laugh. Want to know the reason? Read on.

I have my annual subscription from Click4Support, an online technical support provider. Thanks to them, I rarely have to worry on any issues, be it related to hardware or software. Also, they had warned of various tech support scams that usually hunt innocent PC users. They also told that some of these companies misused their brand name as well, leading to Click4Support scam.

So, coming back to the call, I laughed so loudly (without wanting to do so), the caller from that scamming company hurriedly disconnected it (might be thinking about me as a lunatic!). I had read about such companies; they generally ask for IP address:

·         Asking for your permission to remote access your computer

·         Trying to download malware on your PC in the guise of anti-virus or a product they think would be good for your system

·         Hoping to sell you some kind of maintenance plan / package to cover your security concerns
Well, most of the genuine companies might also appear to do so, but here is a catch: Genuine companies would never call you on their own. If you are caught in any kind of technical mess, how come they know about it? Even if you are facing a problem and somebody called it is sheer coincidence and that too an unfortunate one if you become a victim of scamming tactics.

I was fortunate enough to read Click4Support reviews when I was looking for a company that can help me with my system issues online. And then satisfied by the experience of the other people who experienced their services, I went ahead to seek their services.

You should also do the same, and never get caught in the trap of people reaching out to you telling you that your system is giving you a rough time (even if that is true!).

Cyber Security Tips Given By Click4Support

I can surely understand the sleepless nights people have when they have some large amount of cash in the lockers of their home and not in the bank. The same nights come flooding back if your confidential data is lying there on your PC and you worry about the security it should have.

This was about just one individual; imagine about the business owners who have so much data that needs to be kept safe from prying eyes and hands. The importance a cyber security can thus be understood very well.

The measures can include-

The ‘Password’ way

A long debate used to entail when it came to creating and keep changing the passwords. The situation has begun to shift as the authentication processes can be trickier than ever due to the presence of the retina scan, fingerprint scan and vice scans as a better alternative. However, the good-old passwords would still take some time to get completely disappeared from the cyber world. To stay at guard, rules of the game are still the same.

·         Complex-translating-to-strong passwords
·         Different for different website
·         And use of good password managers

If you are finding it difficult to do so, read Click4Support customer reviews; wondering why? Well, it would tell you about an expert online technical service provider that has assisted many clients with the issues related to the password creation and account recovery.

Layered authentication

Formally known as multi-factor authentication (MFA), the security measure is now being applied by many websites to secure the content of its users. During the login process, the websites include addition steps than only passwords, like Mobile verification if the account is accessed from different PC / gadget than those on which the settings are saved. This measure is believed to be helpful in eliminating some of the weakness of the human / machine-generated passwords.

Through the secured web browser

We are using the internet at all the steps of professional and personal life; that makes the people utterly dependent on the browsers they are familiar or comfortable with. One hitch and the work can get stuck for an hour or so. To avoid such an issue, keep the web browsers up to date, along with the plugins you have installed for your convenience. If you don’t do that, you will keep worrying of browser-based exploits that take hold of vulnerabilities of the browser which is removed with every version update.

Keep the cyber security basics in place

With everything getting modern, do not forget about the anti-virus /anti-malware, firewall, version update of the all the software, keeping data backup. If the older threats are getting older it doesn’t mean that they have disappeared from the face of cyber world. Several of the Click4Support scams, where hackers have abused the good name of the tech support provider company, prove so.

Be prepared for everything!

How To Avoid Tech Support Scams

Now a day, tech support is on rise and has become the most popular service among the computer users. But just like everything, it also has a downside. Scammers and swindlers are always willing to rob a person’s bank account and their personal information, taking the undue advantage of the popularity of technical support service companies.

After seeing these scams, the tech support companies want to ensure that their users no more get ripped by these scammers in the name of authenticity.

What scammers do?

The scammers offer fake tech support to take remote control of your computer. It inadvertantly invites them to steal your personal data.

Here are some tips to prevent scams in the name of reputed tech support companies like Click4support.

1.      Don’t trust any random call, it could be fake: - The most common way for scammers to make a fool out  you is through fake calls. They will tell you details about a virus on your PC and then offer you an Antivirus for it. Or, they might access your PC remotely, which might lead to identity theft.  If you receive a call telling you about a virus attack on your computer or issues like that, consider going through the problem yourself rather than going for the service without re-checking.

2.      Always double check before giving remote access: - The tech support experts always ask for permission before accessing your PC remotely. So, always make sure that you continuously monitor the screen while the technician is resolving the issue. And if you find anything suspicious, feel free to abort the session immediately.

3.      Always do a little background search: - Today there are so many tech support companies available on internet, but you cannot select just about anyone. Instead, you should do a background search, like information about their online reputation; customer reviews; online scams and frauds about the company; and customer testimonials.

4.      Never share your password details with anyone: - Sometimes, the scammers may ask for your passwords and other personal details. Don’t ever fall in such traps and understand that the enquirer is indeed fake.  One should never give the details even if the technician force you. Indeed, type the password by yourself.

The above will definitely help in avoiding online tech support scams. Apart from that, the computer user can also file a complaint against the scam company so that other people may also get aware and vigilant of these frauds.
