1. Optimize Windows with CO2 Saver: CO2 Saver is a free lightweight toolbars application that runs in Windows. It adjusts the power settings to consume less electricity when you are not frequently using computer, monitor and hard drive. This tool calculates the power saved and converts it into pounds of CO2 emissions.

2. Use energy efficient products: Energy efficient product consume less energy. Energy Star is an international standard for energy efficient consumer product. Whenever you buy electronics product, look for the Energy Star logo or ask for the similarly certified products.

3. Adjust monitor brightness: CRT monitors consume 250% more power than LCD screens of similar size. So to cut down your electricity bills consider less power-hungry LCD screen. Another way is to adjust your monitor’s brightness levels to minimum.

4. Adjust Computer Settings: Adjust Windows or Mac OSX setting accordingly so that system can use less power when not in use. On Windows, go to Control Panel; then power options to fine tune your computer to turn down the hard disk, monitor or go into standby mode. 5. Newer PSUs have 80-90% efficient, so they use the power more efficiently with lesser power loss.
