Could the security issues in Cloud diminish its usage?

The tech world is severely suffering from an “IT Game of Thrones” with “getting exterminated” being unjustifiable!

Let’s assume if security issues destroy the cloud, CIO will be killed by Cloud, Apple might destroy passwords and certainly, IT and BYOD (Bring Your Own-Device) will attempt to execute each other.

There have been enough of cyber violations and privacy intrusions which prove that security is a major concern for IT systems running upon or without the cloud. Even though many businesses are twitchy about the cloud (and its usage), some devastating facts have been successful in putting an end to the debate.

As per Cloud Adoption & Risk Report from Skyhigh Network, in Q3 of year 2014 the standard companies used 831 cloud services. It also came to notice that 13 million users were reported to use cloud on a frequent basis from 350 organizations.

In addition, a latest survey from Gigaom revealed that 71% out of 500 deliberate IT companies now use SaaS products as the most important drivers. Reasonably, 65% of the companies also claimed that, security is what comes in between becoming fully dependent upon the cloud technology.

Impact on IT Departments?

In any organization, the IT department is well-appointed for analyzing the security risks related to SaaS products and they help the companies to take recognized and well calculated security risks. Yet, the menacing fact is the weird utilization of IT budgets to buy software by marketers and salespeople they seem fit within the organization, without proper consultation from IT.

Now when these departments are equipped with the services they need, they might try to seize new ones. In several cases, these sectors are seriously affected by the security issues in cloud, and so they’re seeking help from IT.

However, the coming years are expected to experience a slowdown in such behaviors from the Non-IT departments towards using cloud services. IT department would soon obtain an opportunity to own these cloud services, and then execute security measures. If IT sector tends to be smart, it’ll also enhance the cloud services and make them more functional.

What are the outcomes for customers?

Ultimately, this would become a win-win situation depending upon the approach of IT sector towards the customers. IT is responsible to make cloud services valuable but also lead in finding new ones.
Cloud service providers should be  helping IT sector with security tests. Despite the routine tests conducted by cloud providers, their customers are seeking third parties for security inspection.

ISPs provide tools for calculating internet speed and service; likewise, the cloud assistance providers also need to put their investment within providing testing tools and enhancing security. This would help in building reliability and trustworthiness in the entire cloud industry which would prevent security disaster.

Conclusion

The year 2015 is predicted to be full of security malfunction, but this would not diminish or exterminate the cloud. The adoption rate of this technology would only continue to rise.

Now when the cloud is prevalent, and other sectors are equipped with most of their required services, IT would be able own the security of Cloud and help in reducing possibilities of risks.
