How to Fix Audio and Video Synchronization Problem with VLC?

Have you ever played a video on VLC that doesn’t have the sync audio and video? If it’s the case, you would want to know how to get that straight because it can make a movie un-watchable.

When you come across a video that has audio syncing problems, the sound track and dialogue are off by as much as a few seconds from what the characters are (appearing to) saying, making it almost impossible to watch the video.
To fix audio track problem to sync with the video track you need to follow these steps:

Step 1: From the VLC menu, go to preferences.
Step 2: Click on the Audio tab.
Step 3: Click on All in the lower left corner to display more audio preferences.
Step 4: Look for Audio desynchronization compensation in the preferences.
Step 5: Set the syncing compensation forward or backward, depending on how much the audio is out of sync with the video.
Step 6: Click Save.
Step 7: Play the video as normal; you’ll find the audio is no longer out of sync and is playing as expected.

Remember that this is not permanent and will only synchronize the current video when played in VLC.

Keyboard Shortcut to Slow or Speed up Audio and Video

Another best way is to use the keystrokes for slowing or speeding the audio track to align with video.
F - Slow audio by 50ms
G- Speed audio by 50ms

Some say J or K keys also work to move the audio back and forward 50 milliseconds, respectively. See what’s getting the things done in your version of VLC.
