Most Common Laptop Battery Problems

The performance of laptops mostly depends on battery, which is a piece of hardware. If the battery is not functioning well then you might require charging your laptop again and again. Users easily get irritated from draining of laptop battery frequently and end up buying a new laptop to avoid such problem.

 Here are some common solutions for laptop battery problems:


Problem 1: Laptop shuts down after AC adapter is unplugged

Solution:
· Connect your Laptop properly to the battery seat.
· Try any compatible adapter and connect it to your laptop. If the battery is getting charged, it indicates that your adapter is faulty. Replace your laptop adapter.
· If battery is still not getting charged after changing the adapter then possibility is that laptop DC power jack is loose or damaged.
· Sometimes BIOS show the adapter as an unknown device due to hardware issues. In that case, you should update your BIOS to resolve such issues.

Problem 2: Battery overheating
Solution:
· If your laptop battery is overheating frequently, contact your laptop manufacturer and get the batteries replaced as soon as possible.

Problem 3: The battery is not detected by the laptop
Solution:

· Replace your battery with a new one.
· If replaced battery doesn’t recharge even then, it might be a motherboard related failure. The motherboard needs to be replaced or repaired.

Problem 4: Laptop won’t start on battery power
Solution:

You should remove the batteries, when not using laptop. If you keep batteries inside the laptop for a long time, the charge gets drained slowly.

Problem 5: New laptop doesn't start.
Solution:

A new laptop should be kept charging for at least 10-12 hours before using it for the first time.
