How to Use Cell Phones as a Modem to use Internet on Your System

Today almost every android phone has the facility to share its internet pack with a laptop or a computer. This helps a lot when you need internet but you don’t have an internet connection. Therefore if you want to connect your laptop or other devices to your phone’s data plan, you can use these three “tethering” features:

1. Through portable Wi-Fi hotspot

Step 1

Open menu in your mobile.

Step 2

Go to settings and there you will see an option stating more… Click on it.

Step 3

After clicking on more, click on Wireless & Networks section and then open "Tethering and Portable Hotspot."

Step 4

From here you can configure Wi-Fi Hotspot by setting your preferred SSID network name, security mode and password. And then save them.

Step 7

Click the "Network" icon in the Windows 7 Notification area, select the SSID name you chose on your phone, click "Connect" and enter the password to connect to your phone's data plan.

2. Through Bluetooth hotspot

Step 1

Open the main menu of your phone

Step 2

Open the mobile settings and search for Bluetooth under the tab Wireless & Networks

Step 3

From there turn on the Bluetooth and make it visible to all the devices.

After that click on the Start button of the computer, then click on add a device under the option "Devices and Printers"

From there select the name of your Android phone and click "Next"

Step 6

Now go back to your mobile and open settings. Then click on more and open Wireless & Networks section.

Step 7

Now share your phones internet by selecting "Tethering & Portable Hotspot” and checking "Bluetooth Tethering"

3.  Through USB connection

Step 1

Connect the mobile USB cable with your computer.

Step 2

Click the "Home" button in the phone and then the "Menu" button.

Step 3

Open settings and then click on "More" from the Wireless & Networks section

Step 4

After that click on "Tethering & Portable Hotspot”.

Step 4

Check "USB Tethering" to establish a USB data connection on your computer. Uncheck the option to sever the connection.

So, these are the three methods of using you cell phone as a modem to connect internet in your system.
