Manual Installation of Ethernet Card Driver

For the proper functioning of Ethernet cards, an Ethernet card driver has to be installed before. Majority of the new hardware devices come with a CD for driver installation. These CDs have a driver installation file. However, sometimes you may manually require installing a driver.
Follow the steps below for installing an Ethernet driver:


  1.  On  your Windows 7 system navigate as given below
  2. Start» Control Panel » Hardware and Sound » Device manager
  3. On the Device Manager Windows, find the field ‘Network Adapter’. Click on it and a list of network devices will be expanded. Look for the Ethernet device on the list and right click on it. From the drop down menu, select ‘Properties’. Open the ‘General’ tab in the Property dialog box where the type of the device and the name of its manufacturer will be listed.
  4.  Based on the details of your Ethernet card, at the website of your card’s manufacturer search for the driver. If still you are not able to find the driver, then looks for the website of your system’s manufacturer.  As most of the manufacturers of hardware host downloads for the drivers of their different hardware.
  5.  Download the driver that is specifically designed for the type of your Ethernet card and operating system.
  6.   For initiating the installation process double click on the file setup.exe or install.exe.
  7.   After the complete installation of driver, restart your system.
