Protecting android device from malware

With the launch of android phones, the number of mobile device users raised high. It was found by a research firm that 8.13 percent of smart phones were powered by android in the third quarter of 2013.
This massive success of android has attracted the attention of cyber criminals too. They have started to put their efforts to illegally obtain the personal information about the android owners via the android devices.

With the rise in number of android hackers, the security apps have also improved to keep up with new threats. These apps scan the virus present in device and clean it. There are many viruses scanning software for android system.

1. Authorized app stores:
When downloading apps, it is vitally important that it must be done from an authorized app store i.e. from reputed companies. These marketplaces are examined carefully for any illegal or fraudulent programs. They are secured and legal and provide malware protection.

2. Suspicious apps:
However the malicious apps sometimes manage to enter into an authorized app store despite of many securities. A fake BBM app was recently found in the Google play store.
These apps notify the users about the malware encountered. If the users have read the reviews about the BBM app they wouldn’t have downloaded it.

3. Software updates:
Almost all the apps frequently releases updates with bug fixes and enhanced features. Regular updating the apps and software can make the device more secure and protected.
If someone wants to know about an update on android he/she can go to the settings, and choose “About phone” option and then select System Updates.

These are some steps that can be followed to protect the mobile device from malware, though many android security apps are also available but it is always advised to take protective steps to keep mobile safe and secured.
